ORIGINALLY POSTED OCTOBER 2019 , UPDATED 31/1/2026

Transform NDT director Richard Freemantle, in his role as chair of the BINDT composites group, attended Confidence in Composites (a conference organised by Composites UK), chairing the first session of the day.

The event looked at the non-destructive evaluation, structural health monitoring and repair of fibre reinforced polymer composites during both manufacture and in-service.

Richard took part in a lively panel discussion at the end of the first day which considered future requirements for NDT in terms of new sensor technologies, structural health monitoring and the role of automation to support materials processing and composite manufacturing.  With a strong focus on understanding how these requirements could be delivered through an Industry 4.0 framework, the panel session proved to be a great way to explore these topics.

A dedicated write up for the conference hosted by Composites UK was available at the time including the programme and copies of speaker presentations to be available shortly.
